SymSoft Releases ControlPanelGRC Batch Manager
New Module Automates the Management and Monitoring of Complex Batch Jobs Through a Centralized Infrastructure in SAP SystemsMILWAUKEE – February 2, 2010 – SymSoft Corporation, a provider of Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) solutions for SAP® environments, today announced the release of ControlPanelGRC Batch Manager. The new module, which is part of SymSoft's ControlPanelGRC second-generation suite of GRC applications, creates a centralized infrastructure that simplifies complex batch job scheduling. In addition, it automatically creates documentation that shows if batch jobs ran, whether they were successful or not, and what was done to correct any issues. Batch job management is a time-consuming but necessary task since many batch jobs are so resource-intensive they have to be scheduled during off-hours. Scheduling is normally performed manually across clients since SAP does not include any native means to centralize this process. ControlPanelGRC Batch Manager solves that issue by allowing batch jobs to be set up as job chains around a business process and then applied to all clients from a central control panel rather than having to be created individually for each client. The real key, however, is how ControlPanelGRC Batch Manager monitors performance and automates compliance into the batch management process. "Many organizations are compelled to document the outcome of their batch jobs," said Scott Goolik, Chief Technology Officer at SymSoft. "Their auditors require that they report on whether a job failed, and if so, who the notification was routed to and what they did to correct the issue. ControlPanelGRC Batch Manager fulfills this need by automatically storing workflow notifications in the SAP database, which provides a searchable audit trail while ensuring the right information gets to the right people." Another advantage of ControlPanelGRC Batch Manager is the ability to monitor whether a job ran as-scheduled, something SAP can't do on its own. In some cases, a batch job that doesn't run could be an indication of a larger problem, such as a larger failure in a critical system. By being notified that the job didn't run at all, versus merely learning whether jobs that ran were successful or failures, process owners can stay on top of issues and remediate them before they become larger problems. ControlPanel GRC's robust workflow engine helps organizations identify long-running jobs, and routes failed jobs (and related logs) as well as successful jobs to the appropriate owners for review in order to reduce risk. It also provides robust options for all types of monitoring and reporting, covering everything from outputting the batch schedule for documentation purposes to analyzing failed jobs in a given client or system. The Executive Dashboard provides an easily accessible snapshot of batch job executions over time, as well as detailing successful, canceled or long-running jobs. Additional features and functions of ControlPanelGRC Batch Manager include:
ControlPanelGRC Batch Manager has one other feature that makes it attractive to businesses of all sizes: the cost versus other third-party solutions. "Obtaining this functionality alone normally costs as much as the full ControlPanelGRC Suite," Goolik said. "By opting for ControlPanelGRC Batch Manager, users get a full-featured, robust batch job manager plus all the other compliance benefits available as part of our second generation GRC solution. It's a far better value." About SymSoft Milwaukee-based SymSoft Corporation offers professional solutions for compliance automation.
